ISKON…..

People who belong to the ISKON believe that Krishna is everywhere…and I say so are his devotees…we first visited an ISKOn temple in Bangi..for the evening aarti..was pretty good..and as I always believe …the ISKON is rich…I don’t know where they get their funds from..but all I know is…they are real real rich…in all their celebrations..

 We again managed to get ourselves to go to an ISKON temple in the US…and this time..we actually join their bhagwat gita classes…why..well..don’t know why…but I know that living away from India..surely does get us to be more patriotic..and also god fearing…or for that matter everything that one wldn’t actually be in India…..but ofcourse..for the good….

 I don’t remember being to soo many temples…all my life..in India…as compared to the number I have visited over the past 6 months…I suppose living away from where we actually belong..and being in a group which is different from wat we are…we feel the need to associate with like minded people..and where better to find an Indian crowd..then at the temples…and the movies…the latter being tough for us…thanx to adi….we resort to the only other option left for us…the TEMPLEZZZZ…..

 I wont count myself as a complete believer in GOD..but I know that someone exists…who runs the world….whether he is the supreme power..or not…I dont know..

 Being in the US…has surely changed me in many ways…and the most imp of the changes is me missing India more than ever…I have grown up outside of India..and have been away from India practically all my life..then why now..is it I miss it the most..I suppose its in the atmosphere here … :P

 Well..here is another thing that puzzles me…abt the US…The theaters…they are soo clean..I sometimes wonder…why the same people(Indians ofcourse…) manage to keep them clean out here..and not in India….

 One other thing that gets us all hooked is being extra health conscious…I never heard anyone tell me or prove that Indians abroad have a shorter life span..or suffer from more illnesses than resident Indians….But then..I suppose its the fear of whether we will be fit and fine when we return to India..to enjoy all the “RICHESSSSS” that we have managed to earn living soo far away from India..and ofcourse all our families…

 Possibly the desire to be more Indian strikes us hard and good when we  are away from India…and in a way..this is good…coz then..i see the vision of  a Developed India…become a reality…coz its us Indians and their attitudes which will help achieve this…(Phew..!!  sounded like a speech…but then…ona lighter note… I miss chaatttt….:P slurp…God…this is wat hapens to me whenever I talk of life in India…  :P …)

Funny feelings….

guess wat??!! I was watching KANK again.. :P I know I know..I sound like a hypocrite.. telling others not to watch it..and then watching it again myself…  Well..I don’t know if its with me ..or everyone has similar things happening with them..i have diff opinions abt the same thing…at diff times…ask me abt what my fav color ..i wld have a diff selection each day i suppose..ok now that over exaggerating it..but i suppose u get wat i mean….  I suppose wat i expect from a movie..is some entertainment..and the moment they get anywhere close to relaity…i sort of start to hate it…i do like the art movies..and the really serious movies..or the ones made fr social awarness..but when u go to watch a commercial movie..i go for pure entertainment…KANK is wat i call reality which is always wanted to be kept hdden…it happens with all of us…i am sure..some dare to openly agree..and some like myself..just deny it…i suppose its coz we are wat we call too traditional..to accept anything off the ordinary…to happen with us..  being in luv is pretty natural..and as one says…luv and death come uninvited..now dont get me wrong..i am not hoping to fall in luv with someone else..or am not telling u that i wldnt..its just that i wldnt allow it to go out of bounds…its tough to handle a single guy..then wat good am i goin to be with 2..  :P  Omkara was another movie i watched recently..i didn’t like it too…well..thats for the same reasons as KANK..i swear i wld had killed anyone close to me to have cheated upon me…or rather ..to have hidden it from me..and also for breaking the traditional way of life…get married..and settle down with a single person..for all ur life…whether u like it or not… I shld tell hubby dearest abt this blog entry..he will have a good laugh..he has always had one..especially when i get all emotinal…rather emotinally confused..abt what i want..and what i am..and whatever be the case…  :P well..this seems to be one of the times..when i am feeling funny…and creating an image of being a realy confused person…coz of my ineffective way of expressing myself…(not that i disagree to be confused… ;) ) .. So i better call it quits..and go to bed…and wake up to a new day..and a new me..with a totally new emotion… ;)

KIDZZZZZZ….

I used to love kids…up until I had my own..not that I hate them now..its just that I have realised the truths about them.. :P

They can be soo annoying at times…have a kid cry continuosly into ur ears for arnd half an hour..and u will know wat I am talking abt…at times I get soo frustrated…that I actually scream out…probably trying to vent it all out…

 My toughest time at being a mom was when I had to rock my kid to bed..every time she needed a nap..I wld have to rock her for arnd 45 minutes…even though she wld sleep only half an hour…How did she get into this habbit…?? now that I owe it to my chitterr….horseshoe…freako used to rock her all day long..just coz she enjoyed doing so..

 How did I get her off the habbit…God..now that was like living a nightmare…  :P Allowed her to cry herself to sleep..was tough for the first week..then I sort of got used to it..and the follwing week.. miracle occured..she wld just sleep off whenever she got tired…  :D   the hard work did pay off…

 This wasn’t the end of my ordeals as a mother… there were many more..and there will be many many more… Wonder how our parents seemed to be born Pros at it…??!!!

I sound to be a really mean mom..but then wait till u have kids…and I suppose then u will be able to understand every single sentiment of mine…  :)

Alvida Karan Ko…..

Has any one of you been ever so lucky to get free passes to a first day first show of an eagerly awaited movie….??  Well..we did..and I don’t know if I shld be happy abt that ..

Kabhi Alvida na Kahna…!! a totally westwernized desi movie…and even though it was free…for the first time..we felt watching movies was even an expense of our time… and movie freaks such as us.. feeling this way..isn’t considered to be normal…. :P

 Every character in this movie had an affair…at one time or an another…and Amitabh had the best role at that …

One hilarious scene goes like this…

We get see this broken bed..and Abhishek ask’s his dad ..how it happened…Amitabh ( holding a blonde babe in his arms…)  Son …you will soon get married…I will eduacte you..as to how this can be done….  :P

 God…I suppose being a superstar…one thinks they can get away with almost anything…

And hubby dearest didn’t leave one chance at criticising KANK  ( he pronounces it as ” KUNK”…rhyming with SKUNK…just to express himself better …  :P  )

For those of you..who are clever to wait for reviews to decide on watching a movie…well…I suggest you rather count sheep and go to bed..and if u still decide to find out urself…then i suppose it wldnt even take u 3 1/2 minutes of the 31/2 hour movie…to realise u  made a big big mistake…

Phony Phone calls….

Have you ever had these phone calls where you were actually told you either won a million dollars lottery, or that you have a distant aunt of yours who recently passed away, and has left you a fortune( and ofcourse..her cat too…  :P ). Sounds kindda similar to the spam e-mails we get. I suppose now people have become really jobless that they actually calling all the listed numbers  just hoping to get lucky with someone’s bank account info.

Few days ago, I got lucky too( to be considered dumb enough for this crap..). Nope it wasn’t the aunt nor was it the lottery. But it was actually the government of US wanting to give me Grant for 5000 $. It went like…..

Caller: (ina Desi voice..which I don’t fail to note..)Hello Ma’am , we are pleased to inform you that the govt. Of US has decided to give you a grant for 5000$.

Me: Huh!! Grant…whats a grant?? And why me??? I mean I am sure I didn’t tell anyone I needed money…( not that I would not accept money if I didn’t ask for it… :P ) Caller: Well Ma’am, you might have been paying your taxes on time for the past few years, so the Govt. wants to show its appreciation.. Me: Duh!! Is it …  ( by now I am sure this guy has either gotten the wrong number, or talking crap…since I had been in the US only 6 months..and obviously haven’t yet gone thru a single Tax cycle yet….) Caller: Give me your account details…so that we can transfer the amount…Me: ( pretending to believe the crap….) I don’t have an accnt..wld u do with my husband’s accnt details instead… Caller: Just a sec ma’am, while I consult with my supervisor…Then he assumes he has put me on hold… Caller: (to his supervisor..)  Abe!!! is ke pass account details nahi hain..kya kare…iske husband ka lele kya…Supervisor: Are nahi be…bol de ki kal call kar lenge…husband se baat karne… He gets back on line with me and lets me know that he will call and take my hubby’s details himself..i agree while trying to control my laughter… I haven’t yet heard from him after that …but hope to real soon…Such calls help keep the comedy section of my life alive…  :P

Sharjah Shake!!!

Now, Now!! Don’t think I am talking about an Earthquake  in Sharjah (For those who are bad at Geography, it’s in the U.A.E.). Or for that matter misspelling Sheikh( people who know me well, know I suck with spellings…:P).

It’s actually this recipe that I got introduced to while on our honeymoon. So I guess you must be wondering, what I am doing taking cookery classes on my honeymoon. Thats not the case actually. You see, they say ” the way to a man’s heart is through his STOMACH…” . I do believe in this age old saying, and hence I got into learning this recipe for an exotic drink pretty famous in Kerala.

It’s Pretty simple, but trust me, it tastes just great. I bet you would have tasted the same with but another more common name of Banana Smoothie/ Shake. But then why allow the names to get into the way of enjoying it.

So here’s the recipe:

1 Ice cube tray of frozen milk

2  ripe bananas

4 tablespoons sugar

1/2 cup chilled milk

2 spoons bournavita

handful of cashewnuts

Blend all ingredients in the juicer, except for the frozen milk, which you add in for the final blend.

Do try it out when u got time, and if you get some more time, do help me try and figure out why its called by that name…:D

Hello world!

Yippeeeee!!!…so my blog is up and running…i suppose everything related with the computer programming world starts with the “HELLO WORLD”. Feels like aliens trying to make a call onto earthlings..:P..anyways..why break the so called tradition… here is my first post …my “Hello World” post…:D
